This raised garden bed adjusts from a ground level height for ordinary daily display up to a raised height (chest height for a person in a seated position) using an internal spring system. With the legs folded underneath in the lowered position it looks like a regular raised garden bed but can be raised up for increased ease of use for people who have difficulty bending down. An internal spring system permits raising and lowering with minimal lifting strength. For people with decreased visual acuity this allows them to look at their plants more closely and see weeds or check planting distance without needing to get down to the level of the bed.

Why not just make the raised garden bed the height that is most accessible for the gardener? This seems overly complex as you’ll have varying weight due to the plants/soil/water mass all changing over time. Is there an active request for this? I could imagine a design that uses notched lengths of 2x4 lumber that interlock and allow the adjustment of the garden bed height. This would need to be set prior to filling the bed with materials.
