For a variety of reasons, there is currently a global shortage of integrated circuits that is affecting a wide range of industries, including open-source assistive technology.
Many of the more complicated devices in the library also rely on integrated circuits and is currently more expensive or simply not possible to source the required components. It will likely be some time (i.e., months) before inventories return to normal levels.
If you are requesting a build, or attempting to fulfill a build request, please be aware that this chip shortage may mean that the build may be more expensive, be significantly delayed, or may simply not be possible at this time. We will try to offer support where we can, but we are also affected by this issue.
List of known affected devices:
- LipSync, LipSync Wireless, LipSync Gaming (Pressure Transducer)
- MMC60 Round Flexure Switch (Jack)
- Sip and Puff Switch (Pressure Transducer)
If you come across any other devices that are affected, please let us know and we’ll amend the list.
